Comparison of elliptical heads and standard torispherical heads

Since most of the convex heads formed by stamping in China are standard elliptical heads, generally larger diameter heads are spinning into standard torispherical heads instead of standard elliptical heads. The finite element calculation shows that the mechanical properties of the standard torispherical head and the standard elliptical head are quite different. Even the mechanical performance parameters of the new head with a thickness of 10% smaller than the standard elliptical head exceed about 20% of the standard torispherical head. It is feasible to replace the standard elliptical head with the new head.

According to the finite element calculation and analysis, when the elliptical arc plus the circular arc head, the standard elliptical head, the standard torispherical head and the cylinder are the same thickness, the elliptical arc plus the circular arc head stress analysis load and elastic-plastic limit The load is the largest, followed by the standard elliptical head, and the standard torispherical head the smallest. When the thickness of the elliptical arc plus arc head is 10% smaller than the cylinder, the stress analysis load of the elliptical arc plus arc head is the same as that of the standard elliptical head, while the standard torispherical head is smaller. Compared with standard elliptical heads, the elliptical and circular arc heads generally have lower elastoplastic limit loads, but are about 20% higher than standard dish heads. Therefore, it is generally feasible to select the calculated thickness of the elliptical arc plus circular arc head to be 0.90 times that of the standard elliptical head, and at the same time, greater economic benefits can be obtained.
